The most famous and ideal destination in the North of Thailand is Chiang Mai. From Chiang Mai, it’s also convenient and easy for you to move to other places in the North, such as Pai, Mae Hong Son or Chiang Rai.
The weather in Northern Thailand is quite good and ideal for tourists to explore: cool, fresh air and easygoing atmosphere. It’s more convenient for you to visit the main city of the north is Chiang Mai, then start your journey of discovering other areas.
Chiang Mai is famous of Yee Peng Festival, also called Yi Peng. This is the most famous biggest festival here. Yee Peng is known as lantern festival which is celebrated on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month every year, normally in November. But the day of festival will be different every year. Yee Peng can last couple days. During the festival, there are thousands of brightly lit lanterns rising into the night’s sky of Chiang Mai.

From Chiang Mai, you can visit a small town called Pai which is located in the North of Chiang Mai. It may take 3 hours from Chiang Mai to Pai. Come to Pai, you will have chances to get experiences of hot springs, and waterfalls. The rural landscape is so beautiful!
In the Northwest of Chiang Mai is the least populous region of Thailand, Mae Hong Son province. If you dare to take a risk, you could try riding a motorbike from Mae Hong Son through tranquil backwaters to stop at Pai or Chiang Mai.
In the Northeast, Chiang Rai is a worth place to check in. There is a nice mountainous view. You also can visit Lao from Chiang Rai.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand is the most well-known destination for tourists to discover Thailand cuisine, tradition and architect. Besides Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Sukhothai are archaeological sites worth for discovering. There are many crumbled remains of ancient Buddhist temples.

There is a famous railway bridge that was the start of the infamous World War II Death Railway to Burma. The South of Thailand is famous of beautiful beaches and islands. Among them, Phuket is the most well-known, especially for solo travelers.
